Introducing Paradise - The Musebox!

Alright, so we considered everyone's feedback and decided that we're going to keep the game open as a musebox since no one, including us, really wants to see it die outright. To transition this in as easily as possible, we're going to tweak a few things again. But for the most part the major things are staying the same. So really all this means is no apps, no AC, and that the structure is much looser than before.

There is going to be a city plopped back into the mix courtesy of Shadow asking Darius for one, as was already planned. But it is not the original city, instead being one that is shifting and changing over time. An area around the main part of the new city will remain open for construction, and the construction yard will remain a feature that's accessible. On that note, the gods aren't leaving and will be around here and there, pretty much to the same extent as before. Communicators won't be changed from how they are now, and no existing buildings will be removed in adding the city.

Events and plots are still possible, and we'll leave those up to you guys. Near the end of each month, we'll put up a post asking for event suggestions for the next and post one based on responses. Plots anyone can just put up a post for to gauge interest and/or plot out

We're Stepping Down

Alright Paradise goers, this isn't the first time this has come up, but it is the final time. As much as we love this game and all of you, we've hit a serious block again on what more we can do with 3step as mods. We're feeling pretty tapped out on ideas to keep things interesting all around lately and after sitting down and having a serious discussion about the issue, we've decided that we're going to step down because it isn't fair to anyone to try and keep going when we're just not really feeling the inspiration needed for the job anymore. Sorry that it's so close to ATP and during the event, but we weren't watching the dates when we discussed this.

What we'd like from you guys, is to decide what will happen from here. If someone has the drive and motivation to take over the game from us and keep it going then we can see about passing the reins. If no one wants to but there's still an interest in playing here, we'll turn the game into a public musebox and everyone can have characters be brought in and taken away as they please. Or if the game has really just run its course, we can just close it. We'll give it about a week for consideration and then take action based on the responses we get.

For this we'll screen comments, especially in the case of any who might want to take modship from us, so there's no pressure but if you want your comment unscreened just say so at the end.

Let's Take a Vacation!

Alright we've decided. For the next event, which is going to run from the 24th through the 30th, the residents of Paradise (including the resident gods) will find themselves out to sea on a luxury cruise ship. For the week they'll be free to enjoy all the fun activities that they like, pretty much free of charge.

Food and all activities are free, but the souvenir shops and casino are not. They're not expensive, but not free. And unlike the last time everyone had a free vacation, everything gotten on the trip will be sent home with the owners.

So is there a catch to this? Nope, this is one week of great weather, warm sea air, and fun!

Hiatus

Paradisians,
to be honest my mind hasn't been on the game for the last month. Having the flu is such a buzzkill. As such, and because I am going on a cruise for a week starting on the 4th, I have forfeit AC for the month of March as well as taking up hiatus until April 13th.

I plan on renewing activity by Monday, and I send you all greetings from the Bahamas! I wish all the best for the busy mods.

Activity Check time again? Please remember to fill out the form below to post your activity for March.

Make sure to fill out the second half of the form for new characters or for any of your characters that may have had a change in location or housemates. Otherwise you can leave it blank.

Activity Check will be over on April 8th @ 11:59pm PST.

AC Requirement is to complete any one out of three of these per character:
- 1 network post in the month of AC
- 1 log post OR participation in another log in the month of AC.
- A thread of 10 or more comments, can be 2 threads of 5 comments.

Players are exempt from this month's AC if:
- They were accepted into the game during the month this AC covers
- They called an extended hiatus (two weeks or more) before the 15th

If you do not meet AC you will take a strike. You have 3 strikes (in a row) before you are dropped from the game. If you miss April (and get a strike), but make AC for May, any/all of your strikes disappears.

If your characters have been in game for three months or more, have been extra active, and you would like to to start racking up Advocate Points, then be sure to fill out the bonus AC part of the form.

If you are on hiatus during AC (1st-8th of the month), please post your activity as soon as you get back. If you have any questions, please contact a mod.

Hey guys! This is really sad, but I just haven't been able to get together the excitement, energy, and time I need for staying in this game. Even for the stuff I said I'd do (like the red wolf thing). So I'm dropping Daisuke, and by connection Dark. This really shouldn't come as a surprise since I haven't really done anything all month...but I just wanna make this official and not be a pansy about it.

I've had a lotta fun with what we all did together! Even though it wasn't much...unfortunately. I'll miss all the CR, though...admittedly, most of Daisuke's CR was dropped with the character cut down in Feb. So...yeah. I hope y'all continue to kick ass and have a buncha fun! Don't blow up the city okay??

If anyone wants to loot his apartment, they can get a bunch of art supplies and some in-progress paintings and such. Go nuts.

I love you all!!! And of course, if you wanna unfriend me on plurk, I'll understand :>

The post for the Big Bad REDWolf threads is up!

RED Sniper returned from the respawn a while back as a werewolf, and he's slowly been losing his humanity ever since as some kind of punishment from the gods. Having not yet learned his lesson, he's slowly lost more and more of himself, getting more aggressive and territorial as time has passed. It all culminated a few weeks ago, when he disappeared after a fight with Pyro (and this is why he can't have nice things, like a relationship. Gosh). Long story short, he's coming back to town after being as feral as a man can be in the woods, but he's a lot less man than wolf this time around, even in broad daylight. He's going to have to get this thing under control, or he might be seeing a lot less of himself when he looks in the mirror- and this might be just the kick in the pants he needs.

In terms of what he looks like, think something along these lines, standing 7 feet tall easily when hunched over, and closer to 9 when upright. Grey-brown fur, kind of mangy-looking, long-legged like his human form. His eyes glow visibly when he's really worked up. Some of his scars are visible through his fur, granted you can catch him in enough light to see them. At this time, he's actually got some remnants of his clothing, though all remains are tattered bits of his shirt, pants, a single sock, and one very torn glove on his left hand.

For the lighter, less murderous stuff, feel free to tag into the afternoon subheader. I'm game to split those threads up per person/group, as he'll probably run into a few different people at different locales: the park, around the apartments, maybe even taking a drink in the fountain. He's definitely tamer during the day, having just wandered into town after a bit of a meal on whatever he could find in the woods (sorry all you cute and cuddly things out there).

For fights, tag into the night subheader! Let's try to keep a massive fight to one thread: one well-equipped person is able to scare off a hostile werewolf at best, but a handful of whomever is left who can fight might be enough to capture him, depending on how things go.

Leave questions and plot ideas here, especially if you want to team up or plan how to take down a monster. Let's get this show on the road! \o/

Moderator Announcement

Dear Paradise Players,

This is not an easy announcement to make. We mods have talked this over and due to the slow nature of the game, we aren't sure where to take things in Paradise right now. We know that the drop in pace has a lot to do with schedules getting busier and or real life issues that take precedence over RP, but this has left us at a loss for where to take things in such a slow game. Even more so because Tsumi will be dealing with some incoming changes that may result in less time to devote to mod duties as well.

This is not a closure notice but more of a state of the game notice. We do feel that it may be time to look into either turning the game into a musebox or closing it. But we don't want to do that and so we are going to try out one last tactic.

Both mods (Deria and Tsumi) will be shuffling around and minimizing the number of character we have in game. We're hoping doing this will encourage PC movement as it will create a power vacuum within the city. This will happen by all of the members of the council leaving the city except Shadow the Hedgehog.

All of the characters being dropped by the mods include: Odd Della Robbia, Sora, Ace Bunny, Jak, Daxter, Satoshi, Ping Pong, Peter Puppy, Goofy, and Cassidy.

We can also work with these events and the Big Bad Red Wolf plot to push further movement.

Since we are coming to the players about this, we have also decided to wave Activity Check in February and lower the requirements to only one piece of activity per character for March, but it must be within the month of March. It cannot be backdated. We're hoping if we decrease pressure too, we can have a more lax and fun atmosphere to also encourage participation and activity. There will be no March event either. At least not one run by the mods.

Any and all questions and concerns can be left here and we will address them here as well. This does come with a heavy heart and we hope things will pick up and we can carry on.

Hallo! My name is Aya and this series has recently eaten my brain so here we go.

I'm bringing in none other than Randy Cunningham, teenager by...well, most of the time, and ninja by...er, well, whenever he's needed. If you find him passed out with his eyes open and glazed over with a strange book on his lap then it's probably totally fine, he'll be back soon.

He also uses strange slang but it's okay, you should get the gist the longer you're around him. Which...may or may not be a good thing, who knows.

Trimming the Roster

Deria here. I know I haven't been keeping as active as usual lately, but I've been having a few problems deciding what to do with everyone. As a result I'm trimming my character count by a couple. Dropping Cassidy and Daxter.

The Council will be taking care of Daxter's mounts unless they can hire someone else to do it instead.

For the time being that means Ping Pong, Peter, Goofy, Satoshi, and Manic are staying though.

Trouble Time!

It's high time the werewolf that is RED Sniper got into some actual trouble. Thus far, he's mostly just prowled around places, been seen by a few people, and mauled an animal or two (sorry BLU), but nothing that might cause actual alarm amongst the residents of Paradise. It's time to change that!

SO. He and Pyro had a fight, and he's been off in the woods by himself for a while, more or less feral and out of his mind as he's lost himself to that supernatural lycanthropy of his. He's coming to town, he's angry, hungry, and probably more aggressive than he's ever been. Want to have your character mauled? Want to try to befriend him with some food and belly rubs? Want to team up with a few folks and have a massive fight? Now is the time! Whatever gets folks talking about the fact that there might be a problem and it needs to be dealt with.

I'm not looking to have him captured (or cured) just yet, buuuuuut I might be game to change that depending on how plotting goes. Mostly what I'm after is to get the town moving- it's all a bit too quiet, which has never suited Paradise. ;) Since Visitors is still going on for a few days, feel free to join in! If no one wants to be mauled around the campsite, I'll probably throw my other character (Carlisle) into it, so don't feel obligated to do that.

Anyhoo, let's get to it! Hit me up in the comments and let's see if we can get the blood flowing.

So heads up that RED Sniper is going to be missing for at least a few days. That's not the part where I felt I needed to make an OOC note though, since let's face it, he's usually holed up somewhere in the fire station anyway.

What everyone might want to know is that there's going to be some increased wolf activity for the next several days, especially around the areas of the apartment complex, fire station, encampment, fountain, and BLU's super fun deer pen. There will be pawprints in what snow is left, disturbed foliage, maybe the occasional claw mark on a tree, etc. People with good tracking skills (I'm looking at you, hunter-type folks) might pick up his trail leading toward the south, out of the city.

Visitor's Event Announcement

Hello Players, mods here. We've decided how the events are going to go for Visitors coming up. We'll lay out the events here and open it up for plotting for our current players/characters and then announce it again at the beginning of Visitors proper.

The events are going to go like this;

Friday the 13th

On Friday the 13th, Paradise is going to be hit with bad luck. Broken mirrors, ladders everywhere, a sudden increase in the black cat population. Bad luck for everyone in the city. The extent of the bad luck will be to all of you for your characters. Be as gentle or harsh as you want. You may, of course, pull from the multitude of themes surrounding the day. Just no destroying the city.

Friday 14th-Friday 21st

The week following the day of bad luck will be a mini grab-bag event. Everyone will have three options to choose from to affect characters. Sign-ups will be below so we know who will be affected with which one. Characters can only be affected by one for the length of the event so think about it before you choose. The options are as follows:

1) Musical Extravaganza! For the week of the event, the characters affected will be bursting into song. Like a musical. It can be during emotionally taxing moments, when they're alone, or maybe because they realized they ran out of milk. It's all about the music. Dancing can be included and so can back-up singers and dancers that are fellow affected characters.

2) Unnecessary Censorship! Much like those hilarious videos where normal words are bleeped out for hilarity, that's what's happening to your character. This is complete with a loud BLEEP noise and a black box over their mouth. It happens at random intervals and can happen a lot over most of a sentence or only one little word after they've been talking for a while. It's up to you.

3) Horrible Pick-up Lines! For an entire week, your character is forced to blurt out horrible pick-up lines. Like the censorship, it can be whenever but these need to be a little more common. For the funny. Blurt it out to the one you like, or the ones you don't. Heck, hit on the people you hate. We will compile a few links to some websites that have a store of bad pick-up lines. Just in case anyone needs them.

Visitors Sign-Ups

Alright everyone, today is the start of Visitors sign-ups! Sign-ups will remain open throughout the event, which begins on February 1st and ends on March 1st. This doubles as a plotting post, so feel free to poke people you would like to play with or suggest things to happen for the month. But mostly it's just a way to keep track of who's coming. If you know anyone that you want to play with, invite them! Otherwise, it might be helpful to post around dear_mun or dear_player and poke people that you're interested in.

The Maps

For anyone new to this type of event, here's how it works.

Any player, whether a member of this game or not, may bring in any character(s) fro the duration of the event without the need to apply. All of the visiting characters will arrive just the same as any other, in a tent or tipi with their belongings, whatever they are receiving for a communicator, and a copy of Paradise for Dummies. To all appearances they are normal arrivals, but will be gone when the date changes to March 1st unless they've been apped into the game and accepted, apped and pending, or reserved. But only accepted characters may continue to make new posts after the 28th.

All reserves from today until February 28th are good until March 7th.

Just a Few Reminders

The activity check will be over in four days so if you haven't done so yet please respond to it. AC this month is only proof that you did something in the game through December. Any comment counts as passing.

If your character has moved into the apartment complex be sure to note that in the housing section of AC and the floor if your character has a preference. That way everyone has a general idea of who their neighbors are. Also don't forget that the Council will be collecting rent from the tenants on February 1st. Rent is 100 Steps per apartment not per resident, so as long as they get their money somehow there will be no evictions back to the campsite.

If your character has had a building built or is in the process of having one done then please be sure to hit up the Maps Page so we can update accordingly.

And lastly, Paradise's birthday is fast approaching so that means that it's time for the month-long version of the Visitors' Event to celebrate. As usual, use the month to invite your friends or bring in new characters to play through the month without apping first, and only app if they're sticking around. We'll try to have some ideas up for potential events for then in the next week or two so keep an eye out for that too.
